Located on the Red Sea, Eilat is Israel's premier winter sun destination. Here the winter temperatures are usually in the mid 20s and the resort is adjacent to Jordan with Egypt close by.
It's a small resort with a long beachfront promenade, hosting a lively collection of restaurants, bars and boutiques. Eilat is also a mecca for diving or snorkelling where you can view abundant marine life. If you're looking for some winter sun, love diving and don't want to fly long haul to find it then Eilat will work for you - especially, if you can combine it with seeing more of Israel.
It's also has a border with Jordan, so many people use this as the crossing point to visit Petra and Wadi Rum which are within easy reach.
THINGS TO DO & SEE
Kibbutz Experience tour
Festivals throughout the year
Coral Underwater Observatory
Our OpinionNot overly sophisticated..some of the hotels are older style..a good stop off for a few days winter sun en route to Petra/Wadi Rum or if you want to do a circular tour of Southern Israel and visit the Negev.
